UX Designer who just graduated from Georgia Tech!
I also draw a comic, Last Res0rt, that ends up being a test bed for all those things I learn about good design.
I'm currently looking for a full-time UX Designer role -- if you're keen, check out the the rest of my resume and let me know you're interested so we can discuss things further!

Swipe specific keyboard? There's also the idea that the QWERTY keyboard has become an "ingrained affordance" -- i.e. it wasn't efficient before, but too many folks have learned it one way to change now without taking some hit to efficiency. |

Responsive mobile testing - Is resizing the desktop browser adequate? The browser-resizing trick works to solve 90% of problems, as it's more than most sites do even now. If I were only doing stuff for myself I might stop there... |

Is a web form that sends an email bad UX versus native email client? This. If you're looking for very specific pieces of information (vs. a generic contact form), a web form is vastly superior to just giving people an email address and hoping they know what to do. |

What is the best way to spend a very limited budget on UX design? And let's make it clear: the money is in the manhours, NOT the software (though a copy of Adobe and a computer may still set you back). Spend 'em up front, though, and you'll save yourself HEAPS in the long run. |

Should we risk using colors other than blue in Web apps? And there used to be tons of research into how men's brains were wired differently than women's and how these differences meant men were better suited for [X] and women were only good for [Y]. I think my explanation about default colors is a better logical extrapolation than thinking that all these social networks pick blue because they want "a calming effect"! These companies don't care about horoscope-level thoughts on colors, they care about results. For 90% of these sites, "results" means getting people to click on links, and the first step is making sure people know they're links. |

Should we risk using colors other than blue in Web apps? FWIW, I love how the author gets called out for being an amateur web designer. Take the article with a grain of salt, I'd say. |

Upon the launch of a new site - add big slide-down / lightbox explanation? +1 for pointing out that this practice is associated with spammers -- which doesn't mean it won't work, mind you, but actions that're associated with spam tend to repulse as well. |

How to not make my website have a “1990's” look @BryanOakley - "Avoiding picking fonts" is a bit of a misnomer. If you suck at fonts, pick something sans-serif and only use that one font. It may not be perfect, but it's better than Times New Roman. |

How to not make my website have a “1990's” look I consider your comics to be the focal point of your web design, so it'd be a mistake not to at least account for them in trying to fix your "1990's" issues. I've seen your facebook page, so you're obviously doing fine with your comics. I'm just suggesting they would still be improved with a little extra thought put in on typography -- I find your comics to be on par with The Oatmeal if not for your font selection. |
