It seems like an answer to this would be dependent on local cultures. For example, customs in the United States might differ greatly from those in Japan in this regard. I'm not sure that the death of a user should have any effect on user experience.

Even google has two buttons on the front page. Brian is right though, SEO starts to get into a different topic. I will say, I would consider using two different domains. Much the same way stackoverflow.com differs from stackexchange.com
