Whats the best default for search result sorting? Thanks for spelling it out for me. In doing research, I found amix.dk/blog/post/19588 which explains how reddit sorts posts. After playing with it I've found a good algo for balancing freshness and matches. Thanks again for the pointers. |

Whats the best default for search result sorting? I'm playing with this right now. Using matches as score with the reddit post algorithm. Why give more weight to titles? In some tests, I found that this promoted short articles that had keywords in the title over long articles that had keywords multiple times in the body. |

Banner Ad placement in a mobile app Accidental clicks are bad for ux. Ads are bad enough as it is, I don't want to make my app frustrating to use. |

Star vs Bookmark icon for favorites thanks for the answer, since in my case a bookmark works very much like a real bookmark, i think i'll go with that. the one oddity i've encountered though is that in google chrome, they use the term bookmark, but use filled/unfilled stars to create/destroy bookmarks. I feel like a star makes less direct sense, but is pretty good as an icon unlike a little bookmark (see twitter bootstrap) that does not really have an obvious on/off state. your thoughts? |
