comment On mobile phones why is the green (call) button at the left and red (hang) button at the right side?
Could it also be that phones have gotten smaller and it is now easy (even easier) to reach across to press the green button on the left? Perhaps even easier than to press it on the right, where you may be doubling your thumb back on itself.

comment Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead?
Ask a child to draw a train? What do you think you will get? A Class 42, a Deltic? No. They will draw a steamie - just about every time. It is the archetype of its class. The same goes for icons.

Many, perhaps most, lifts (aka elevators) in the UK have close buttons. They close the door immediately, assuming no one is standing in the way, so you don't have to wait the usual 30+ seconds for the door to close automatically. If someone hits the outside button whilst they are closing, they usually then open again.

comment Testing OK/Cancel buttons
I prefer the labels to be as direct as possible. For example, I'd change [Confirm Delete / Do No Delete] to [Delete / Retain] or [Delete / Keep] or possibly just [Delete / Cancel] if the second option only implies non-deletion.
