comment Why do ATMs need to take your card in?
Note that most (if not all) ATMs have a time out period - if you don't press anything for XX seconds, they will reset to their default state (starting screen).

comment Why is Google's “I'm Feeling Lucky” button still next to the search bar?
The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button (or rather, a link) is also present when you use instant search - you just need to hover over the instant suggestions with your mouse (an action which I think very few people do, because use of a keyboard is kind of enforced). Here is a screenshot.

comment Why do Microwave oven UIs fail?
What do you mean by "his suggestion"? That UI has long been in use on microwaves, before these new digital buttons (which I agree are confusing). My mother still has one of those microwaves with analog duration and power wheels and it looks something like this. I have a similar variant, with a wheel for duration, but a button for selecting power (which I almost never change from max). Also, it has a display which shows you a timer, that is, what duration you have selected, and the duration wheel has "steps" when you turn it, to snap to certain durations.

comment Force User to Sign In/Sign Up?
To avoid privacy issues, there is no need to lock up the entire website. You could still show other member profiles, but hide all sensitive info, like name, e-mail etc. For example, you could show age, gender, interests, 1 profile photo (but hide the other ones and show a signup form if a user wants to see more photos), etc. Or even better, allow every user to choose what he/she wants to be publicly visible.

comment Is there a service where I can upload product screen shots and get feedback from users?
Wow, I can't believe they simply removed the button "Take a public test" a few hours ago. Also, I can't find the page in Google cache or even in Web archive, so I can't show you a screenshot. Fortunately, I managed to pull a link from my browsing history which shows an example test. Good thing with this is that you can continue taking tests from that one. I also found this and there you can still see the button and take the tests the normal way. I have no clue why did they remove the button from the main page.
