Differences between iOS and Android GUIs One quote I've heard (though I can't remember from whom) is that if you borrow someone else's Android phone you'll most likely not be able to make sense of its home screen. Just like cooking at someone else's kitchen, the way cooking appliances are organized makes sense only to the owner because it's heavily personalized to how they used the kitchen. You need to own your own Android device and arrange things to your own liking to be able to properly assess Android's usability; borrowing someone else's won't give you an accurate perception. |

Card sort with 'Don't know' group You could put a limit, say 3 don't knows per person per session or 5 active don't knows per person at any one time. |

What is the optimum button size of touch screen applications? The variation between the guidelines is mostly due to differing pixel densities I'm pretty sure most of the guidelines are measuring in "device independent pixels", which may or may not corresponds to physical pixels |

A single, long load - or multiple short loads, which would provide a better experience? I'll just add 4. Make sure the resources are cached by the browser so they do not need to be loaded more than once; also set caching headers so caching proxies can cache them. Use CDN if it's within your budget. Also make sure you have expiry strategy. |

When Back Button is Expected but Not Supported, The Least Invasive User Assistance? +1 for History API; however, the best solution is of course to avoid breaking the back button in the first place. |

Why are child-resistant packages sometimes easier to open by kids than adults? +1 for a detailed outline of the testing procedure. Child-resistant packaging is probably a misnomer, it really should be called infant-resistant packaging. Children around 8-10 years old generally have enough sensibility to follow instruction when an adult told them that the medicine is not for them. The only time a child at that age might open the bottle AND consume and overdose on it is probably if the child is suicidal, then you have a BIGGER problem than child-resistant packaging. |

What to present when wrong log in information entered how so? If a user with such username exists, it's shown again and if no user with such username exists, it's also shown again. What can the hacker infer from that? |

Why are child-resistant packages sometimes easier to open by kids than adults? I don't see how this relates to child resistant packaging. Child-resistant packaging usually relies on hand dexterity that very young children may not have developed; the linked article seems to be more about mental/motor learning instead of dexterity. |

What to present when wrong log in information entered I disagree, you should always clear password but not username. As @BennySkogberg pointed out, the reason is that the user can read and fix faulty username, but they cannot (easily) fix faulty password because it's masked. Either way, doing this will not give an attacker any information that he didn't already know (that he inputted a certain username, which may or may not exist in the system). |

Can an OK button do nothing? If this is the first time using the program, the user might have assumed that clicking OK without selecting would mean transfer everything listed in the box. So not doing anything might lead the user to think that the program is broken. |

Which way should be “on” for a switch? @JYelton: unless you're color blind, IMO it's pretty clear that the On state has a more vibrant color than the Off state. |

Why might right aligned field labels be better? in the web it's generally horizontal space that is scarce rather than vertical since most people expect to be able to scroll vertically, rather than horizontally. In small mobile screen this become even more pronounced. I almost always top-align unless there is a reason to do otherwise. |

Do non-technical/non-web savvy users understand the concept of tags? Personally, I pretty much ignored the tagging system in SE. When I need to search content, I prefer to use free text search (via Google, usually). I can understand the use of tag when you have nontextual content, like in image sharing websites, but in text-heavy sites like SE, I don't see why tagging would be useful and I've seen cases where it seems to be more of a hindrance, for instance many users in SO like to ask question about a specific language, but does not mention that language in body text, only in the tags. |

Who needs an external on/off Wi-Fi button? I often use external Wifi switch when Wifi tethering on public transport. Often I turned my laptop on first and after prancing around for some time, I realized that I needed internet to do something, so turned on my Wifi tethering. The laptop usually does not immediately found and connect to the Wifi hotspot that just sprung out of nowhere, so instead of going to settings to connect or waiting until it connects automatically, it's easier to reboot the Wifi using the external switch. My external switch is the Fn-key+F11 though, instead of a slide switch. |
