comment What UX metrics can I get from a web application?
I agree, and this is incorporated in pre-design mode. But are there ways to gather more information post-deployment to help continually improve the product?

UX testing implies (to me) user testing done with a moderator. I'm thinking of things that can be done at the lowest level to solicit feedback from users as they're utilizing the deployed product. Similar to a "Send Feedback" feature, but more descriptive and informative.

comment Search box must contain at least three letters - how to convey?
Why not hide the search button completely and show when the minimum is met? That way the user will still be inclined to use it. It doesn't necessarily have to be the search button either, just some sort of visual feedback.

comment Should users be forced into a responsive design (without the ability to opt out)?
The issue is that a lot of sites aren't presented correctly and fully - many of them just conceal content at different levels. I'm hoping this changes in the future.

comment Should users be forced into a responsive design (without the ability to opt out)?
@Luke the issue I see is that a lot of responsive designs aren't doing it correctly - and if they're not even getting the concept right, they're not going to know how to escape media queries. We're going to continue to see a lot of this. So, to answer your question, I haven't seen any yet that allow you to break out of the current media query.
