Why do users click randomly and rapidly when an application hangs? Oddly... I don't. Window manager grays it out, its unresponsive, proceed with xkill. |

Which way should be “on” for a switch? Even in case of light switches the overall action is still to apply pressure like a push button , its easier to push lower part than the upper part, to flip it. This is different from other switches where you have to get hold of it and then move it. |

Which way should be “on” for a switch? Symmetrical looking switches are confusing. Apart from that, I find the action "On" or "engaged", more close to actions "lift up" or "move forward to right" (popular reading direction). |

What explains the current shift from glossy UIs to matte UIs? You could add the windows vista aero glass episode as well. |

What to call “Cancel” when “Cancel” is already the default action? How about Yes / No ? |

Why do we say we “browse” to a place on the Internet when we actually download a web server’s content to our browser? Here's the map of that big place: internet-map.net |

Should error messages apologize? I'd agree with that rationale. If user enters invalid input, its a mistake on user's part. And if software fails to do something user rightfully expects, its a mistake on software's part. |

Can a mobile application be made using a totally flat design? Its about guiding the user's intuition, and making everything look-alike results in lack of such hinting. |

Validation / Dirty Flag: should we force users to fix invalid entries before they move to another screen in the software? Is it mandatory to "Batch-Apply" all the settings at once ? If not you can do an auto-save on valid ones and let user navigate. |

Why is a manual transmission so complicated? It's just a technological limitation/dependence of current time, such gear mechanisms are trusted and proven for a long time and all other available alternatives are either too costly, or less trusted. If a new revolutionary design makes its way (like in electric cars) and proves its worth, then it should be adopted... but then, they're already researching self-driving cars. |

What can be an alternative to tabs in an iphone or android application I think this is a true tabs alternative, since all other forms resort to same link click navigation. |
