comment Emerging UI trend: comments in the margin - pros and cons?
"It just seems like trying to cram a potentially infinite amount of content into a finite space (the margins of a text)"... Fermat's Last Theorem was one comment that didn't fit :(

Just wanted to add I've seen a similar feature on (SoundCloud?) where you could add a comment on a particular time of a song.

comment When is Skeuomorphism appropriate in an iOS app?
I don't know if this is relevant, but I've heard news of Apple abolishing Skeuomorphism in iOS 7.

comment Navigating a multi-part article in ios?
-'you can't have intro/history on the left...' would using a different animation than left/right (drill-down,back) like up/down or page curl up/down be more suited for this kind of navigation since the user stays on the same level in the hierarchy ? - I also took a look at Reeder 'pull to go to prev/next' feature. it might fit in this scenario. - Would enforcing the order of navigation between the article's page make sense ?

@CharlesWesley I've edited the question with a rough mockup.

point 1: the main purpose of the "control" is to offer additional information - it's based on the facebook app's friends/chat thingy, and it disappears in portrait mode; there is another "classic" drawer control on the left for navigation point 2: is finding the next line an issue in the first image as well?
