comment When are clear/reset actions in forms useful?
Thanks a lot, the link alone to the nielsen norman group is awesome. :) If you are interested in optimal placement of primary/secondary action buttons in forms, I recommend the following source (based on user studies) by Luke Wroblewski: static.lukew.com/webforms_lukew.pdf

comment Should I never ever use only placeholders in forms?
You could have top-aligned labels as well if that's the case I suppose.

Does the user ever need to go back and edit existing values? Then it might be a good idea with labels.

comment Generic action icons or icons per object?
Mainly I'm worried about ensuring implementation consistency between a large set of user interfaces there if we e.g. have a set of icons that are only bound to a specific object type.Let's say you have three objects: X, Y and Z. Do you create a unique "delete X", "delete Y" and "delete Z" icon or do you have one common "delete" icon for all objects (X, Y, Z in this case)?

comment 29 checkbox on a screen of a mobile app
Can the multiple select options be nested somehow? E.g. do certain of the multiple select options belong to the same category... Are all checkbox options applicable for all interaction flows in the form?

Or, even better, provide a responsive design to it as well... :)

comment What is the best way to condense this filter screen when you have a filter control on multiple fields?
Well, yeah, it depends on the context of use for sure. I interpreted the question as just being for desktop applications but for tablets / phones then I'd ensure to do what Danny mentioned as well.
