comment Color complimenting like Google's material specs
Hahaha that's one of the obstacles I'm trying to overcome. It's a pretty good size co. yet there is no "identity guide" or really standards for that matter. Too much politics in the leadership structure for that...everybody wants to be the UX final decision maker. If I didn't love the people I'd have washed my hands of it a long time ago. Either way I like this answer, thanks!

Yea I think that's more of where I'm leaning with a hefty use of white space to drown out the focal points in to heavy of hues.

@icc97 You'll notice their palette stays pretty pastel in shade even for the 900 range. I'm dealing in a place where it's more like #006, #060, #600 type base color. I think it's just going to end up taking some tinkering anyway to define a reasonable palette without getting to conflicting in hue/saturation.

comment Should I place link in Android title bar?
If that's the case, and if it were me. I'd put some of that white space below to use and keep their focus on the intended functionality up top by replacing the "About" verbiage with maybe a slide up panel labeled with just a "?" icon or similar fixed to the bottom.

Yea, users have become accustomed to them, plus would allow a quick and easy way to add additional such elements later within it.

I'd suggest going with something more recognizable to your users, like embed it in a "hamburger" style sub menu.

I ended up using an animated contemporary scroll visual thing I made, but thanks for attempting to answer either way, marking as correct.

@Izhaki Oh I never argued the benefit and/or irrefutable evidence UX is an excellent source of bettering efficiency and visceral reward to the user experiencing the results of everything you mention. Whether it goes through rigorous data collection and analysis as you point out is irrelevant when it comes to the one old curmudgeon who misses the days when UX wasn't even a concept. As just one example anyway lol. Nice name drop in proposing Einstein's work in to a conversation about UX somehow though! Cheers :)

@Izhaki Show me anything that 100% of a large user base agrees unquestionably about every element of UX in something reasonably complex and I will share their lament. Can't please everyone lol.

Yea that's kind of what I was thinking also. On the other note though I didn't see anything wrong with the pushpin either. The problem is the "business" side determines all UX on a huge project. There's no real standards, and more often then not you have hundreds of users having their UX decided by one department head who quite definitely has never done UX (or any form of dev for that matter) on any level in their entire lives. Lovely politics indeed lol.

comment How to lay out the entry of a date offset
Would be curious to know the rest of the layout/functionality associated with where this would be entered before suggesting better solutions. However I would share the opinion of not making your user backtrack in their contextual flow of left to right like that where you're presenting new inputs appearing before their active focus after they've chosen their conditional input.

comment Color Emotion Naming Convention Standard?
Thanks, I didn't consider the culture sensitivity of the concept either. Not beyond Goethe's color palette identification of personality types.

comment Name for specific design type instance
Well dang, that's pretty similar to what I'm doing, guess I should have figured somebody thought of doing something like that already. If nobody comes along with a better answer then I'll just run with the "card" concept and mark this as answered, for the moment though I can at least help a little with the point difference, +1 :)

@Blam - Yea I got the programming side, I was wondering if there was a technical term on the design side of things to communicate the concept.

comment Is it best to be exclusively a UX designer or Do development, products or UI as well?
@Franchesca out of curiosity, what value would the metric of gender balance offer in this particular scenario unless it's a passive poke of one being better than the other at this skillset?

It's right-brain vs. left-brain...but you should still have competence in everything that falls in the realm of the "front-end" in my opinion. Basically, a developer should be able to fill all the designers weakness's and vice versa, but neither should be completely isolated from the world of the other.
