comment Language selection: top or bottom of the page?
If I end up on a page that is in a language I don't speak, I'm not going to take the time to scroll to the bottom to see if there's an option to switch to my language. If Chrome doesn't popup its auto-translate bar or if there's not widget with little flags or other language selector, I'm just going to leave the page.

If you include a link, someone with more reputation can edit your post and convert it into an inline picture.

You seem to be missing your picture of what the interface currently looks like....

comment How to resolve lengthy hyperlinks?
Huh. I didn't know that's what UNESCO stood for. I'd just link to the acronym for well-known ones like that. Or introduce the acronym and just link that: United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

comment Combobox-clutter… how to solve?
Just because someone said you should do birthday this way doesn't make it true. I much prefer typing "11/29/1988" or something than having to click-select three times.

For the non-Windows users, could you provide an example of what this 'check names' feature looks like?

This wouldn't solve the most common use can I face when cooking: melting butter. Also, what about frozen dinners or popcorn or things that need a specific amount of time to cook?

Why not just 'added'? Added <-> Removed. Also I suggest posting over at the English stack exchange instead of here.

comment Aligning text data in a grid
I really like your second solution, increasing the spacing between the label and the data. It should be relatively simple to implement and expert users won't be as affected by a drastic change in the overall look of the field.
