I'm afraid this is looking at the end-user (consumer) experience. My question is regarding the administrator-side. That is, the person entering the data.

Universal. There are no categories setup at this point, and each store could have their own sizes/have a custom product with no conventional size. Though what are you thinking?

That's exactly what I was just discussing with the team. After a point the user is going to ignore the descriptions, but they need to be there for beginners.

Unfortunately no. The categories are company values assigned by the business that the user selects from.

The categories are company values. So they change depending on the company. So let's say the value is Flexible. The description would be what that means so the user could make a selection. The description, at minimum, needs to be shown at some point before the user proceeds.

Oh I see, so this wouldn't be in a separate window? Hmm... Let me think of that.

Perhaps, but I'm trying to save on vertical space. I have a modal window that is a particular size constraint.

I had a similar idea, but I'm uncertain if this will conflict with a modal window. It's almost like opening a modal on top of a modal.

Hmmm... That might be closer... I don't see that idea working well with this particular instance, though. The modal would constantly be resizing to accomodate the different paragraph lengths. Also, (I made the correction) it's not a selection list. It's a drop down list where the user can only selection one category.

answered How do you communicate the location of a user in a tabbed environment when they've navigated to a page that can't be described using an existing tab?
