Is it better to have groups of content stacked vertically or horizontally? Adding to @Keiwes depending of what type of content you have and your audience will be a deciding factor on how to present your content. I'd recommend Pattern Tap (patterntap.com) to find other example patterns of horizontal and vertical approaches other sites have used. It's a personal favorite of mine! |

Changing Colour of Social Media buttons to match Colour Palette While looking through web patterns and other sites I didn't see much of the grey social icons as you stated above. Can you provide some examples? Through research I found mostly 2-toned colors ranging in blue to tan. |

Changing Colour of Social Media buttons to match Colour Palette I looked through a bunch of examples on the web over the weekend and I am starting to think social media icons can hold their original color values or hold a custom color as long as it's not detouring greatly from the original color value. Even if facebook has set the tone for their icon about 50% or more websites tend to shift the media icons to a more subtle color to fit within their theme. |

Changing Colour of Social Media buttons to match Colour Palette The whole point is to get people to click the icon but it seems people are falling back from the traditional set social media icon colors and rolling their own. It almost looks like websites want to show they are connected to social media but they are blending icons in to appear hidden. Sites like "Codrops"(tympanus.net/codrops) or "Mohawk Fine papers Inc."(mohawkconnects.com) are examples. I was just curious if the current trend is to steer away from the preset social icon colors. |

Changing Colour of Social Media buttons to match Colour Palette As a current trend I have seen people detouring from the established social icon colors and rolling their own colors. I was curious if this has had an impact on users. From my own experience when website's roll their own colors I tend to miss the icons as they do not "pop out" on the screen. |

Best Practice for Tab Placement on Widget? I also want to mention side tabs aren't all that bad either. Side tabs can be used for tabbed navigation as seen on apple.com/iwork/tutorials/#keynote but you'll want to keep side tabs to a count of 3-5 tabs as it'll cause users to scroll for it exceeds the page width and appear over-whelming if there is content underneath a side tab widget. As a designer i'm all for conserving space and allowing enough breathing room (white space) to allow users to have an enjoyable experience while browsing my sites. |
