Since the early 90s I've always had a passion for design. This passion lead to taking up both a Graphic Design and a Front-End Design career path.

Currently I am a Front-End Designer for New York State Health and Human Services Cluster. I also have a BS in Electronic Marketing & Publishing.

My primary interest lay within Responsive Design, SASS, Color and Web Typography, small projects built on these technoligies are viewable via CODEPEN.

That reminds me of a text preview. They work on news sites (syracuse.com/poststandard for example, uses Full Story >>) Do you have any other examples besides news websites using this convention?

What about using a pdf icon with a new window icon? But then you need to ask yourself if the icons could carry the message on their own. I think the pdf icon is understood universally.

Yeah that's another issue in itself. I've been looking into solutions but the interaction itself is handled so differently from touch to mouse. If it was just text, tap could be used to display the full word however if it's contained within a link tap will direct to another page.

@JonW: Yeah I looked into <title> as a possible solution but JAWS doesn't even see the element.

Thanks for your help @Jonathan Strate! The link you posted on consistency really helped in backing how the site header should be the same color from desktop to mobile. As for the graphic we moved away from using it and opted for a leaf svg and a web font because it'll be easier to maintain and looks so much cleaner than the pixel jpg.

Hey @Racheet! Yeah there is currently two images being used. The image seen in the mobile view is the shaved version of the desktop version.

Media Queries were initially used as part of the responsive design. I tried what I could at a a 26.875em size but it's not readable and the text clips. If I reduce the size it's not readable and if I increase the size the image clips.
