I'm a geek. I'm Wednesday's little sister.

comment How to organize list based content, newest to oldest or vice versa?
Is it important to read the older comments for the newer to make sense? Or are they independent, and older comments can be ignored at times?

comment Is there any evidence to back up the theory elderly people won't know how to use a smartphone?
Here's another anecdote for you: I resisted getting a cell phone for a long time, and when I finally got a used one, a teenager offered to show me how to use it. He was surprised when I didn't need help. Just because we do things differently, in an old fashioned way, doesn't mean we can't learn. We have learned that change for change's sake is meaningless. And your grandfather is using a very stable storage medium, with both advantages and disadvantages, just as your suggested option. He may have quickly weighed pros and cons.

comment Why does the Stack Overflow swag request form have six address lines?
Nitpick: that's only a 5 address line in your example. The name field was separate from the address. (Your overall answer is fine.)

Aren't prescriptions a bit more than just "preferences"?

comment Do web users understand the 'sandwich icon' for side bar when used on a desktop site?
@LoomyBear Yes, you did have an answer that said to deal with users who might not know what it meant, but you started by saying that you were pretty sure everyone knew what it meant, and expressed surprise that there might still be people who don't use cell phones. So it was your introductory remarks that I took issue with (although not enough to downvote the answer).

comment Do web users understand the 'sandwich icon' for side bar when used on a desktop site?
I had to look at the question and answers several times to figure out what 'sandwich icon' meant, and I know quite a few who don't ever use a mobile phone. Careful of your assumptions.

comment Is a book more user friendly than an e-book?
It would be nice if this answer had the positives for both books and ebooks, since the first sentence mentions them.

comment Order of address, city, country in form
For US addresses, I personally prefer the zip code before the city and state, because a good lookup can fill those in automatically from the zip code. Typing 5 digits is so much easier than typing a city and then selecting a state from a drop list, and then still having to type in the zip code.

And every time I've used a popcorn setting, it burns the popcorn.

comment Choices for users who don't read
Good luck! Years ago we considered something like this for farm workers, and I was introduced to the difficulty by one of our farm unit managers showing me a timeclock punch card with a red lipstick kiss mark on it. The lady couldn't write her name, so she kissed her punch card to know it was hers.
