comment Who needs an external on/off Wi-Fi button?
@Kaz : it's not only about rogue access points. It can be about preventing a malware from "calling home" while you try to remove it.

comment Should a toggle button show its current state or the state to which it will change?
What about using a checkbox, especially if the selection between the two options can be summarized in a yes/no question?

comment Save icon, is the floppy disk icon dead?
Similarly, even today the silhouette of a steam locomotive is often used to indicate a railway crossing, or a train station, etc. It is instantly recognizable even if it's obsolete since at least a half century: if you put there a modern locomotive, people would wonder whether it's a bus, a train, a tram, or something else.

@NewAlexandria : so what is more user-friendly? Carrying around a Faraday cage with you, or having an on/off switch?

comment Computer login with password only, without username
Where security is not a concern, users can opt to not have a password at all, and log in with one step: click on the user icon. For example, a family PC used mostly only for multimedia, and the different user accounts only used for personal settings like colors, icons, etc. In this case, you made the login last longer, not shorter.

comment Best Practice for a button that performs multiple actions
Just imagine how many inexperienced users will double-click on your button. I've seen quite a lot of people who don't know when to use single and double clicks.

comment Should we use a sound/jingle when users arrive on our site or open our app?
Even if it's a music website, it's better to start the sounds only if the user interacts with the site (klicks, or at least hovers on something), instead of when loading and being possible in the background or on another tab.
