Standard notation for describing UI Ok. The set up is like this. We are working on a CMS system which is going to be sold to customers. There we have a default theme which will be used as a base for customization. Along with the CSS files that build up the theme we need to provide a guidance that describes basic principles of our design... as a PDF document. This is where all these colors and sizes come into play. |

Standard notation for describing UI Well I wish there were as less freedom to interpret wrong as possible as well as minimal number of round-trips between a designer and CSS folks. |

Standard notation for describing UI First, not everyone knows CSS, right? Second, what if it is a design guide, should I use CSS there? |

Standard notation for describing UI This is what the question is about. How can a designer convey all details about his design to a CSS coder? |

How do I annotate a mockup image? Well you didn't hurt me at all, but you have to agree that the question clearly says "How do I annotate an image", doesn't it? |

How do I annotate a mockup image? The principles of coordination between designers and developers that you've stated are well known and don't have direct application to the matter of my question. Thank you for the long detailed answer and the tool that you mentioned. I will give it a try. |

How do I annotate a mockup image? The idea of the application is exactly what I am looking for, the implementation sucks though, I don't feel like paying for Fireworks just to make this plugin work. Nice try anyway. |

Making the user login again after registration well, I think it's ok to do it this way, but it will take more work to put these constraints all over the place, which can be avoided otherwise |

Making the user login again after registration aren't you going to validate the email first? what if somebody used somebody's else email and you allow that guy to do things on your web-site |

Confirmation message when closing a lightbox / modal box I don't have anything against of what you call a lightbox (meaning an in-place popup window that closes itself by any click outside of it) if it is used to convey an optional message, like a tooltip. But when it comes to essential workflow steps carried out in a lightbox, this is when the idea of using them stops looking so harmless. Again it depends on the importance of the lightbox content, I am just saying that to me asking a user to put some information is a quite a big deal and using an ephemeral lightbox doesn't seem suitable/reliable/safe enough. |

Confirmation message when closing a lightbox / modal box It's sad to hear that these lightboxes are common practice on your web-site. I would reconsider using them if I could. Well, to answer your exact question: don't get too much into details about transactions and other stuff, user doesn't like thinking much, keep it simple: "Do you want to close it?", "Have you finished?", "Are you sure you finished?" |
