I think brightstarr is a Windows 8 developer, and they are just copying the Windows 8 look/feel.

@yisela Let's talk about it over a coffee.

Talking bad about coffee is dangerous. Almost as many people have been hurt for disrespecting coffee as those who disrespected bacon.

I'm sure there is a sexist answer in how men and woman are different in the kitchen, but I don't want to go there. :)

comment Putting a one-page view of my website on other websites I do
A referral from your client is far more valuable then self promoting on his site. A back link in the footer to provide proof you did the work is enough for anyone who cares.

Those websites look just fine on smaller screens.

That could be confused as a shadow. I'd recommend making the stack 3 rectangles. Just to be clear.

comment Allow users to change fonts for increased reability
Unless the website itself it about dyslexic people, this does nothing more then tell visitors that the owner of the website is dyslexic. Without knowing the reason behind creating the website this could be a good or bad thing.

comment How can I indicate that images can be clicked on a mobile site?
I'm not saying that the above answer is bad advise. It is true, that most mobile Html is rendered this way. If the clickable state of the image is clear in the layout and design, then it works, but what I'm saying is that it seems Html designers have forgotten some of the very basic features of Html/CSS that have always been there since the first version.

comment How can I indicate that images can be clicked on a mobile site?
This isn't an answer. It's more of a statement about what is popular, but that doesn't make it correct. No indication of something doesn't translate into the user knowing that it's clickable. There is a reason why images in a hyperlink are suppose to have a border. The person asking the question has modified the CSS to hide that boarder, and then use a hover state which doesn't exist on mobile devices. Now he's confused why it's not clear that it's clickable. That's not a problem with mobile, it's a problem with his CSS. He has disable a method that already existed by default.

comment Is autocorrecting user login information a good idea?
I went and gave this a try and it's kind of creepy that it corrected my email address. It feels less secure this way. It's not something I'd want to add to my websites.

comment Linking a Navigation menu item to external URL
The nav menu at the top of a website is "premium" space, by putting links there you are telling the visitor that these links are more important then those below them. That is all there is to it. If you feel they are this important, then by all means put offsite links there. It doesn't matter where the links go, only that you think the visitor should be able to find them quickly and easily. That's what the top nav menu is for.

comment Linking a Navigation menu item to external URL
Car companies do this all the time. They often have the top menu as jumping points to multiple car brands owned by the larger parent company. There is no rule anywhere that states a link has to be in the same domain.

comment Should “Like us on Facebook” be a required field on a form?
What's the point of a separate login process that restricts who can sign up to those with a facebook account, but doesn't use the facebook API for signing up.
