comment Does it make any sense to show previous value on edit product page
@Stephen, there is no functionality to check the complete history as of now. " I don't understand why anyone else would need to see a third column with the old value" .....That's more of political/management view and if you really read the question again I'm also against it. BTW thanks.

@Stephen, there is no audit screen, however, there will be a dedicated department who will approve the edited/added products. Hence, they need to check the last value to compare with the new one.

I meant user can delete (using backspace and type again). I don't want auto remove on focus because it is dangerous. If you show previous value next to current one, virtually you are creating a new column

Popup with 30 + fields is bad idea.Even to get the value (information) user has to hover which is too much i guess.

It is an activity sharing application which means any user can see the actions performed by other users. So "you have uploaded an image" doesn't make any sense until user click on his "last activity link" if there any.

comment Better option to warn user about an existing name
My point was we(read designer) should never restrict our-self in the first draft we purpose to the dev, stakeholder or anybody else. That draft should be evaluated on functional, operational and economical feasibility before the implementation. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

comment How to show recommended fields in the form
I wholeheartedly agree with you. We should not put optional or recommended fields. But it is like if user fill optional or recommended fields he will get more refined results and we would be able to collect more personal data, which might be used in future for different purposes.

yes agree with @StefanWasserbauer about the similarity , just thinking is it okay to write recommended as a placeholder?

comment Interface question: how to show tabular data in best possible ways
Option two might create a rugged look and feel due to uneven number of fields per table. look closer to table 2 , they are not aligned at the bottom

comment Do users notice “don't show this again” checkboxes?
I will add a discount column just next to check box which will calculate and update discount dynamically upfront with some animation(fade in/out) to depict some action on the screen. You can also add tooltip on the discount stating the impact if some one select express delivery.

Oh! Application will be used on desktop computers with resolution >= 1024 X 768. i.e. all the latest wide screens.

Tabbed approach might not work here as there would be 7-10 or more field-sets. And the above design is already inside a tabbed panel.

Viewable space is not consistent. In case of sample 1, user can see limited set of fields(read less); whereas, in sample 2, user can see lots more.
