When the username is an email address should the field be called 'username' or 'email'? If you want them to login using an email address, call it that. I don't see what's so hard about that :| |

Facebook connect vs existing account - How to link those two? Does the FB Account Y's email equal X? If so, just tell them that the account will be merged and merge them - don't give them the choice. If they're not equal, and they choose to skip, then give up, there's nothing you can do. |

Facebook connect vs existing account - How to link those two? There is little you can do about that - it's their choice. Also, how do you know that FB account Y is matched with X if the email addresses are different? |

Email confirmation on password reset? Tell users immediately about changes to their core information: email addresses, passwords, usernames, other contact info, etc. And if you can, provide a link that allows you to undo. |

Facebook connect vs existing account - How to link those two? Then automatically have it tell them that there's an account that uses their email address, rather than just ask if they have one. If they don't have the same mail address, then they should be treated separately. |

What is the most user-friendly way to update a Web site? @Flot2011 In that case, fair enough. I'd just do it when there's the biggest lull in users, put up a message "Just making the site even better than it already is, be right back!". No other way of doing it short of having a dedicated dev server (which I really suggest having) |

What is the most user-friendly way to update a Web site? @Flot2011 Why would that be? |

How to enhance user profile information (add a user nickname) after the fact? @deizel Excellent point. I say we take the left half of the email address, and splitting it by '.', '_', '-' and other common separators, we pig-latin the names and use those. |

What is the most user-friendly way to update a Web site? @Flot2011 Is it really 100% necessary that nobody else is using the site whilst you're working on it? |

Porting an Iphone app to Android - what are the ActionBar considerations? Cannot stress the 'abide by the rules that the platform you're building for have set' enough. Give the users a consistent experience with their environment, please! |

Do user experience practitioners ever have to worry about code? I personally believe that UX practitioners should at least be able to look at basic code (simple CSS, simple XAML, etc) and be able to get a decent idea of what is going on. Without that knowledge, a UX practitioner is a burden on the developers, as they will either spend a large amount of time telling you that it isn't possible, or just explaining what they've done. |

Is a multiselect (with a few exposed options) always better than a drop down menu? You misunderstand the question - He is referring to the look of the multiselect, not the fact that you can multi-select. |

Is breaking established web conventions in order to be consistent across multiple devices an unexpected (and therefore harmful) user experience? The cross-browser rendering thing does my head in. Constantly I have to explain that some browsers are very different and just can't do what you want me to make them do, given the budget. As long as it works and is usable, it really doesn't matter. |

If input text length is known, do I really need a submit button? If in doubt, add it as an option, and choose the default that you feel is best. |
