Best to say 'swipe up' or 'swipe down'? @JohnGB - comments like yours are why I seldom come here. No one is interested in commons sense anymore - gotta have references for everything |

Is there a widely-understood visual metaphor for using part or all of an existing item to make a new one? no I can't be bothered |

What other UX processes exist other than user centered design? is this for a school project or something? |

What UI design pattern for choice between 2 actions comes to your mind? the image tells me that one of them requires money, and the other is not connected to money at all |

How could users select four cards from a hand of eight? there's a number of decent methods offered below - there are probably a lot more - but none of them should involve checkboxes! |

Has anyone seen an account activation solution which didn't open another tab Yes it is - but it's not great to have two open tabs from the same site. Perhaps the first tab could be signaled to close. |

What's the best way to kill useless features? @FrankL That particular company was unusual in that it was a traditional publishing company attempting to move into the digital arena. They are marketing and sales driven but I also had to handle the expectations of content creators and editors. Another big issue with this company was introducing the concept of a release plan/MVP to a culture that is accustomed to not launching until its 'perfect' and making sweeping changes last minute. |
