I'm not sure I understand you answer. * The Readme section is below the fold. Had it been the primary use of the page, it should have been at the top (for example, switch places with the file directory. * "Quickly look at code changes". The changes (history?) aren't visible from the getgo. You have to know where to look for them (or am I missing something?)

But what is the rationale behind their layout? Gmail is also a tool, but it's layout calls for 2 primary actions: read emails and compose an email. Doesn't Github want its users to do any particular action more than others?

Another question - would you say that upvoting and downvoting on reddit is more functional than social? Do people upvote a story because they think it's of a higher quality rather than they personally liked it?

Thank you very much Lukzen. This is definitely the kind of answer I was looking for. Just a small question: - Is an upvote without a downvote perceived like a "like"?

Do you have a book that says that? :-)

comment What book would you recommend as a decent 'intro to UX' aimed at non-practitioners?
This is NOT a good book for beginners. Too abstract to offer any value for non-practitioners.

This is a much better approach. Thanks!
