Press-and-hold or Long-Press Gestures: Unintuitive? I just thought of an alternative for #3 after watching my wife get frustrated on the iPad. This gesture I would call the 'Tap Harder' gesture. I'm not sure if this is supported though:) |

Is it better to prioritize Innovation or Perfect UX, when budget is a issue? Perfect UX is very very costly, and often doesn't lead to additional sales (or investment $ depending on your stage). I've struggled with a similar issue where we're 90% there on the user experience, but that last 10% will be extremely costly. We struggle daily with the disconnect between our vision and the end result. Our users don't know the difference because most every piece of software they've used is horrible. |

Is “Favicon Rain” adding or taking away from UX? I wanted to click them so bad as they fell, like some sort of challenge. I would take this out. Mine the data, pop the top 10 most 'favorited' sites to some top 10 list. Have a most recent favorited sites, etc. Definitely more relevant yet still fun. |

How should a user remove vertices from a polygon? How frequent is the act of deleting a vertex? Could you click to select the vertex, then use the delete key/backspace key to remove it? |

Root Node design for a hierarchy/treeview in the user interface I think your second example is fine too. Forcing a visual root node is just forcing an extra click for the user when the tree is collapsed. |

Can I get some inspiration on displaying visualization for a tabular data in addition to displaying it in a table? 'distribution of vendors by devices'. Can you explain this a bit more? Are these 'vendors' suppliers from which you purchase these device types? |

How to display complex, interactive grid? I just reviewed OPs diagrams again and noticed there's another dimension where you need to see a user role as well. In my app, you must click a role first, then it displays this matrix. This might take some more thought!! |

Where should I put my 'desktop site' link? We had a stakeholder that was unconvinced that users were getting everything they needed from the mobile site. This same person pushed for the link at the top of the page. So of course it got more clicks, but those clicks likely lead to a less than ideal browsing experience. I agree with your point that investing in mobile, just to further invest effort in a strategy to get them back to the desktop site, is counter-productive. |
