comment On a field label which should come first, the name of the field or the qualifier?
No. Ordinarily I agree, but these users have at least three "official" addresses. They are used to being forced to select a particular address - but in this instance (as I described in the post) we don't care which one they provide. For the user it's an atypical situation.

That's a timely comment about not being a native speaker. We are just about to open registration to a small number of countries outside the US, and not all speak English natively.

That's a good question - and it's making me wonder if using "preferred" in any way is going to be adequate. I added an Edit to the question.

@Abdul. Ignore the negativity in these comments. You know there is an issue and you are attempting to fix it - there will always be ignorant people who criticize. The answers you have received are more important and constructive - concentrate on them. Best,

comment What are the negative and positive aspects of dark color scheme?
Agreed. Reports seem to prefer focusing on readability, comprehension, etc. I have many articles describing effect on these issues, but I don't seem to have anything on eye strain.

There are online tools available: see spellcheck.net. You could also use - and you'll hate this - a word processing application like MS Word or Open Office Writer. Copy and paste your text, select English as the language, and do a spell check. Very tedious. Hopefully someone will see this and know of an automated way of handling this.

comment What's a good alternative to flags for depicting internationalisation as an option?
@Phil. Nice counter examples. I believe you may be winning this argument. But dammit, I still like the flags.

@ John. It's a joke, playing on the saying about multiple choice tests, "The answer is always C."
