comment Why are there three (3) default worksheets in MS Office Excel?
@GUI Junkie. "It's a nice question, but who cares?" If you're not interested in a question feel free to skip over it - there's no site-requirement to respond to every question posted. Cheers,

comment How do you prevent scope creep in agile projects when usability testing?
I want to echo Matt's comment - and to add that the issue seems to be more that the UX team don't understand what a product backlog is, as implied by Jared's second-last paragraph.

Thaddee - What you describe is another reason why it is bad practice.

comment Formatting relative dates and times
Thanks for mentioning (in your last para) the catch some of us face when dealing repeatedly with different time zones. A couple of sites I frequent are already showing posts as having been updated August 11th even though it's still August 10th where I am. Telling me "updated 1 hour ago" is a lot easier to get my head around.

I just wanted to second the Nice Job for the on-hover feature. Actually, for the whole post, but especially for that.

comment Examples for good Frequent Flyer / Loyalty Program pages
@Chris. See the question I linked to - every answer equally valid, no single actual answer, yet look at the stats for it. I'm leery about us applying the rules only sometimes.

comment Examples for good Frequent Flyer / Loyalty Program pages
It would be great if the downvoter could post a comment. There are numerous heavily trafficked questions on the site that ask for "examples of x", such as this one: ux.stackexchange.com/questions/4796/worst-ui-youve-ever-used I don't see faruz doing anything unusual in asking this question.

answered Hotel Finder by name - should it take you directly to a hotel page if it matches the search, or to the search results page?

@DA01. Yeah, agreed.

comment Is the alt attribute on navigation sufficient for section 508 compliance?
The alt should communicate the same information as its associated element - so it's not accurate to say "That alt attribute is meant to literally replicate the image-based text". The Login example is a case where a one-to-one correspondence is likely sufficient, but not all instances of elements that require alt text are as neat as this. Such an approach will fail an audit.

comment How to represent optional fields?
+1. We do this on a number of forms and users have not had trouble working with them. Csongor mentions users being more used to seeing the asterisk, and they probably are, but if the form is cleanly designed and the inline directions are clearly stated and placed, it works.
