It would be helpful if the Close vote posted their reason.

Matt - I work with surveys a lot, and I'm surprised you are left to make the design decisions on this (I'm assuming you are a developer and not a psychologist/social scientist/etc). The design will directly impact the data you collect - can you give us some info on what the setting is?

comment How to say that an online demo is interactive in 2-3 words?
I can think of a lot of users, and even some technical people, who would be confused by seeing the technical term "beta" being used in this context. I think other posters are right in saying the best choices in this instance are non-technical.

comment Using “user” in a URL structure
Nice response, Ben. Most people will know what it means in the url - at least, within the small subset that actually look at the url - so why go out of the way to introduce uncertainty.

comment What is the right success message?
Be careful, user32572. As Roger points out, "delete" and "remove" mean different things. Delete is destructive, remove is not.

comment Can a serious gaming app have a drama?
Roo: I voted to close because your question, in it's current form, came across as, "How long is a piece of string?" Yes, the techniques can transfer - but so what? What specifically do you want to know?

comment How long should a temporary notification appear?
A word of caution, SirTapTap. Reading something isn't the same as understanding it. You can crunch numbers for mean reading times and come up with "users on average read this many words in this amount of time" but so what - did they understand the message? Your best approach is to try words + timing combinations to assess what is most useful to the user. (This is more a caution than anything else so I deleted my original post from the answers.)

comment Text in a search field - selected with one click or not?
I think you hit the nail on the head. It struck me as a change in input field behavior from what would be generally expected by the user.
