Best practices for a sidebar on a blog Personally, I think that a list of tags with the number of posts for each one is much better. A "cloud" with varying sizes of words is visually cluttered and gives you less information. |

Why do most websites have a custom skin where as most desktop applications don't? The reason that most desktop apps aren't "skinnable" is because it's a really stupid idea. Consistency is much better. And most user-generated "themes" are horribly unusable and ugly. |

Simplicity vs. Flexibility -1: As others have said, flexibility and simplicity are rarely mutually exclusive. You just have to think a bit harder. And those 2% of people will probably be responsible for a much higher share of usage, due to their influence over non-tech people. |
