comment What scholarly UX publications do you know of?
Most of the questions on this site are asking about best UX practice. This changes as user habits and technology changes. Such matters are also highly debatable. I think my question is far less subjective and time-dependent than most of the questions on this site.

Firstly, I'm not asking for the best publication; I'm just asking a for any publication. Whether a publication exists or not is an objective, not subjective, issue. Secondly, scholarly publications are not frequently replaced with others, certainly no quicker than a UX best practice becomes redundant.

Thanks for the well thought out response. In the particular scenario I'm thinking of I can't see anyone thinking it wouldn't be a form, but clearly from you've said a button is required for the Android design.
