comment Best type of UI specifications for UI design?
@Nuoji having been in both the UX and UI position in this situation, I can appreciate the problem you're facing. Wireframes are great, and in my opinion are required if you want to communicate to a UI designer. Your ordered list of the most important UI elements would also be helpful, as would a discussion about the wireframes when kicking off with the UI designer. It can be hard from a UI designer's perspective to know what is expected to live on from the wireframes and what is open to interpretation. Communication and early/often reviews with the UI designer are important.

comment Graph Search changes: why did Facebook do this?
love this part: "a process that circumvents the possibility of endless internal discussions. “'Without live usage we’d just be arguing all day,'”

comment How to display 5 plus horizontal tabs on mobile device
Struggling to remember the best example I've seen. It was a mobile site, not app. sports.yahoo.com's mobile site has a similar pattern at the top for sports scores.

comment Night/Day Mode Toggle
Using a toggle switch would be the most clear experience, but this answer takes into consideration the UI consideration (single sun/moon icon). Thank you for the thoughtful answer!

Have you considered just emailing the file to them with the address they entered into the form?

comment Should we show how many views a page has?
This is a good approach if he's looking to show the trustworthiness of a page. People may click into a page they don't wind up trusting, but only share it after that trust has been established. Really, there's no way to 'trust' a page until you've already clicked into it and registered that view in the system.

comment How can the mode of a car's transmission be made more clear?
I already answered, but I sort of misread the question. The hypothetical is interesting, but it's such a fringe situation that maybe natural selection for the careless driver is the best solution :)

comment How can the mode of a car's transmission be made more clear?
sorry, I should have addressed that part a little better. But, the point is, you're trying to compensate for someone's inexperience/carelessness, which needs a solution that doesn't make the operation of the car more difficult for the experienced user.

comment Is it okay to use breadcrumb navigation on some pages and not on others?
Another important example is the homepage. Breadcrumbs aren't necessary on homepages because there is no where to move up in the site's hierarchy. Landing pages, where you're aiming to provide a very guided path is a good example as well, but you could also think of them as almost a separate site.

I agree with this point. Is there a reason to draw unique attention to old entries?

Publish Test/End Test. Publish Test/Pause Test. Publish Test/Remove Test. Begin Test/End Test. Any of those work?

comment What's the best way to implement product comparison on a mobile web site?
true, you should definitely look at your site analytics to get a sense of your visitors' mobile capabilities. You could do an alternate/more standard version for, say, Blackberry users. Using media-queries, my suggested technique would work for iOS, Android, WP, and WebOS...

comment Should edit details form be in a modal dialog or directly on the page?
cool! glad that brought a little clarity. I always just try to think: 1. what do we want the user to do here? and 2. what does the user want to do here? In this case, the user probably wants to get in and out ASAP so don't make them click all over :-)
