Working out the site navigation By users in "How does looking at the tasks your users perform help you to structure a better website?" you mean the visitors of the site or the users actually creating content? Also, please provide more details what kind of site this is, is it content heavy site and if so, what kind of content? Texts, images, galleries? I find it hard to believe that most of the content would be all that different. Often it boils down to articles, posts, news, photo galleries..basically the stuff you find in a typical CMS. So what is it? |

Hover over web images for additional details best practices lol kid, yeah i can find windows phone 7, 2 years b4 windows 8..transport signage looking like that has been around for decades..helvetica based design all over europe..i'm not going to continue to argue, it's just i hate it when from time to time one smartass comes around saying "this is called XYZ, duh" and finishes with that not contributing anything else relevant |

Hover over web images for additional details best practices your probably confusing it with Live Tiles but if you want to call those hovers, than do, but they're not coz they are there whether you hover or not..hovers don't have much with metro, there's no hovers in Windows 8 nor in WP8 nor in Windows 8 apps because it can't be since those are all touch interfaces..even if you use mouse in Windows 8 there are no hovers. Again, my question is much more general than metro.. |

Hover over web images for additional details best practices yeah but how many mobile users actually use the long tap and it's not available on all devices, for instance it doesn't on work on one of my Sony Xperia's? |

Hover over web images for additional details best practices I know it's "Metro" but Metro is just look and feel and the squares, the hovers are more general and used in wide variety of places, for instance on Gilt also, etc. |

Deliberately annoying users to discourage certain behaviour. Is this a bad idea? what if your users were paying users? I suppose they are not but what if they were? And those paying users say "turn off the blocks completely"? |

Dropdown navigation menus - should top menu option link to content? I tend to set long enough waits (up to 2 seconds) for when users cursor goes out of a menu to deal with the menu disappearance problems which are trouble, I agree. However, the problem with my users is not in misclicking an item but rather in not clicking anything. They seem to hover, then wait, search and scan for an item that doesn't exist because it's already in there as a top level item which they just hovered but should have do one more step and that is click on it. |

Dropdown navigation menus - should top menu option link to content? right..I understand you..touch doesn't have hover I know. But the point is my menu does work on click. Clicking on "News and Posts" takes the user to a list of this content. However, besides that hovering it does render the dropdown too. So it kinda has two functions - serves as a link and displays dropdown. Also please note that the pages in this app are touch enabled by providing links to the content that is also available via dropdowns. |
