I'm organizing the landing page for a website that provides social network features. My idea is split the page into two area one for describe the goals and the other side will show social activities of users. Is it the good approach?

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

I can't comment on what your content should be but it might be worth considering that you need to have call to actions in order to get the user actuall in to the site beyond the landing page. Look at existing social networks, their landing pages a geared to users either logging in or signing up. Granted your social network (assuming you're not doing the UX for facebook, twitter or G+) isn't as well known so might need a little promo, but the goals of the site might cover that. |
