User Experience Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for user experience researchers and experts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have a bunch of fields and a submit button that will ultimately register a user and record their credit card information.

In order for it to be efficient, trustworthy, and useable, I feel like it should say something, to explain to them what will happen, what should happen, and the assure them about something.

So, what should be said on a paid registration form?

Can we get some more details as to what exactly the user is registering/paying for? Those details can be important. – David Kiger Apr 19 '12 at 12:44
they're signing up for a saas product – Kristian Apr 19 '12 at 13:35
Say about what? Say about what they're providing their credit card info for? Are you asking for microcopy for the Credit Card field? Be more specific and I can reopen this but for now it's not clear what you want. – Ben Brocka Apr 22 '12 at 14:44

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

I can't tell you what a registration page should say. But I can sum up, what I think it should not say (part of this post - by not me.

Why users don't fill registration forms:

  1. Fear of getting spammed
  2. Fear that a Facebook/Twitter sign up will spam followers & friends
  3. No option to delete account
  4. Feeling insecure with personal information handling
  5. Too much work to fill out compared to value gained
  6. Asking for information users don’t think you need
  7. Asking for their credit card number for a free trial
  8. Product/service is not clear or appealing

In my personal opinion the most trust gets created by knowing the person you're giving your data to. So maybe you want to add a picture of yourself that's not too shiny and not too wasted.

Another idea would be to add contact information incl. a phone number that the user can call »in case something went wrong« - you see this with ATMs/cash points. You could also add a small help form (in case they don't want to phone internationally) where they can contact you.
