I want to localize my website. Most of the content includes: personal blog, payment for buying my services, about and contact me page, see my portfolio of work etc.

What is the checklist for localization, I have very little knowledge of localization?

The whole thing has to be localized. – dnbrv Apr 14 '12 at 18:26
The checklist is everything you see. Any interface component needs to be understandable. I don't see a useful question in here. – Ben Brocka Apr 14 '12 at 19:19

Even though it is not sufficient question, i would recommend you to go through this link which explains quite a bit on localization steps best practices. As far as am concerned You need to localize everything you want your visitor to read.

More a visitor is able to read in his/her own language, more is the chances for them to come back. Therefore, localize all necessary thing from your visitor point of you and not yours.

Take a look at OLX , just change the language on right hand corner and see what all are localized. Its amazing!!

A simple checklist that is primarily for testing but some salient pointers like -

  1. Hot keys compliance

  2. Entry fields

  3. layout compliance with keeping content design in mind
  4. Language translation and grammatical stuff
  5. Components like Country, currency & postal codes need to be taken care.

The question is about a website. What do hotkeys have to do with it? – dnbrv Apr 14 '12 at 18:27
Also, the link doesn't go to an actual file / page. Can you update it to the correct link? – JonW Apr 14 '12 at 18:58
