User Experience Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for user experience researchers and experts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Before I go in to a client meeting I try to prepare a certain set of questions based on the project. They span from IxD, IA to business strategy.

  • What are the most important questions you ask?
  • And do you have any useful tips on how to crack the nut and get good answers from clients?

These are good and important questions. However, the answer is a science in itself and spans a whole lot of disciplines, including programming, design and usability, apart from psychology and sociology. (The list is not exhaustive, as you may understand.) Also, most of the skill derives from experience and not academic discourse. Agreed, some broad guidelines can be put forth. – Kris Nov 24 '11 at 9:51

Hi Jeroen, this question doesn't really relate to UX or HCI. I suggest you ask it on another Stack like Project Management – Rahul Nov 24 '11 at 11:40
I strongly disagree because this has to do with how we as UX professionals find out what we need, whether that is internally in our companies as we start on new projects or if it is for a client. Asking the right questions is key and I would like this opened. – JeroenEijkhof Nov 26 '11 at 23:51
